The First Amendment

The Actual Text "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The First amendment means to me that people have the right to speak out against anything, without fear of government interaction.  People are able to peaceably assemble to protest any wrong doing.

This video pertains to the type of people we have leading our government.  Politicians without a full understanding of the first amendment and therefore try to hide behind it once they say something other people don't like.  How can you enforce the constitution without a full understand or knowledge of the amendments.

The above link is an example of free speech during employment.  An employee of Home Depot was fired for wearing a button that stated "Under God" in support of our troops.  Or does it?  Can you really deny someone's first amendment rights if they sign a policy during the employment process?  If a company has a dress code that says "No non company buttons." is this a violations of the first amendment?
